Organic Mahotsav 2019 is the 7th in series of the popular biennial conventions held by the Organic Farming Association of India. The event is being held in Udaipur (Rajasthan) at Shilpgram from 29th November to 1st December, 2019. The convention provides a platform for organic farmers from all over India to share, learn and grow. Renowned farmers, scientists, policy makers, seed savers, innovators come together to bring the developments in organic farming to a common platform – the ultimate goal being growth of our farmers while also replenishing our natural resources. Their event schedule is out and when you look at it you see renowned and well-known organic practitioners and guests from all over India and abroad coming together to be a part of this Grand Mahotsav. Day 1 starts on Friday 29th November, 2019.
The Registration begins at 10.00 am and is followed by Welcome Speech by Rohit Jain (Secretary, OFAI) and Chair by K.P. Illiyas (President, OFAI). The Inaugral Speech by the Honourable Union Jal Shakti Minister, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.. Inaugural is followed by Greetings from Padamshree Shree Hukumchand Patidar, Dr N.S Rathod Vice chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur and Edith Van Walsum, IFOAM World Board member, Netherlands.
Claude Alvares – speaks on the lessons from 40 years of organic farming in India to the farmers in Rajasthan. There are many Organic Practitioners, Farmers and Scientists who will be addressing on various issues in various platforms spread over the Mahotsav venue like Auditorium, Vayu Chaupal, OFAI Pavilion, Tech Chaupal and Farm Chaupal.
An agenda is already been prepared and speakers have been allotted times in the order in which they are to be taken up from beginning.The first in the series of talks and discussion for an hour are by Sultan Ismail Director, Ecoscience Research Foundation, Rajinder Singh and Pawan Tak who will be speaking on Ecoscience, Weed Management and Compost preparations respectively. In the next slot for an hour Sabarmatee Tiki speaks on Women, Agriculture and Drudgery and Health. Jagat Ram Speaks on Challenges in Organic Farming and Babulal Dahiya on Folk literature and culture, Drudgery.
Next in the event is a 45-minute session and will have Anant Bhoyar on Organic India (Dharti Mitra Award), Vishalakshi Padmanabahan for Buffalo Back Collective on PGSOC and Dr Sharad on Schemes in Rajasthan for Promotion of Organic Farming. One of the last in the series is Dr SK Sharma on Science in Organic Farming, Subhash Sharma on What is Agriculture and Hukam Chand Patidaar on Rights of farmer from Seed toMarket, Dr E SomSundaram on ScientificValidation of Organic Inputs and OrganicFarming Policy. Ravi Gauria will discuss on Fakenews and misinformation in social media and Umendra Datta speaks on Cultural aspect of Agriculture.Deepika has a Practical Session on Natueco Farm in the Farm Chapual from 2 to 7 Pm on the First Day of the Event Series. Natueco Science is all about harvesting the sunlight using farming as a medium to do that. The focus is on energy conservation.
