Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar celebrated University Level ‘Akshay Tritiya’ at the Agronomy Main Research Farm, College of Agriculture, OUAT, Bhubaneswar today.
The celebration was graced by Prof. Pravat Kumar Roul, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, OUAT as the Chief Guest. He performed the ritual of 'Akhi Muthi Anukula' & 'Bhumi Pujan', the ceremonial act of sowing seeds in paddy fields and plowing.
“On the great occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, we start many auspicious works. Apart from ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’, the chariot construction work of Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, also starts today the world-famous Ratha Jatra festival,” said Prof. Roul. Besides, he greeted the students, faculties, and scientists and wished for a good harvest season for them.
About a hundred participants comprising of faculties, scientists, staff, and students of the University were present at the event. Currently, the agrarian festival of ‘Akshaya Tritiya’ is being celebrated across Odisha as per the age-old tradition. The day is also performed as State-Level Farmers’ Day.
