Prices under NFS act 2013 to remain stagnant

The Centre has decided to continue providing wheat at 2 rupees, rice at 3 rupees and coarse grain at one rupee per kg till June 2018. This was stated by Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ramvilas Paswan. There is a provision for revision of the prices of food grains every three years in the National Food Security Act 2013 but the government has decided to continue the present scheme till 2018. It was said it was the responsibility of the state governments to ensure that no one remains in hunger and the Centre is doing its best to implement the scheme properly. Replying to a question regarding storage capacity of food grains, the Minister of State for Food and Public Distribution said, it has enough storage capacity for food grains in the country.
