Agra District, Uttar Pradesh – Manohar Singh Chauhan, one of India's most successful agricultural entrepreneurs, has been honored with the prestigious RFOI Award 2025 at the MFOI Awards ceremony organized by Krishi Jagran. The award recognizes his exceptional contributions to modern farming, farmer empowerment, and agricultural innovation that have set new benchmarks for the industry.
The award was presented by Shri Ajay Mishra Teni, former Member of Parliament and former Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India, in the presence of M.C. Dominic, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Krishi Jagran, and Shiny Dominic, Managing Director of Krishi Jagran.
A Legacy of Agricultural Excellence
Born in Hasanpur village, Etmadpur Tehsil, Agra district, Manohar Singh Chauhan has emerged as a leading figure in India's agricultural transformation. From humble beginnings working in his family's fields, he has built an empire that spans 300 acres of advanced potato cultivation, generating an annual revenue exceeding ₹30 crore.
"Agriculture is not just a profession—it's a science and a mission," says Chauhan, whose philosophy has driven his remarkable success story.
Record-Breaking Production & Market Leadership
Chauhan's farming operations exemplify the potential of modern agricultural practices. While conventional farmers achieve yields of 140-150 quintals per acre, his farms consistently produce 150-175 quintals per acre, with a record-breaking achievement of 225 quintals per acre. His produce commands premium prices—in 2020, he sold potatoes at a historic ₹45 per kilogram in wholesale markets.
His operations span 100 acres of owned land and 200 acres of leased farmland, utilizing cutting-edge soil fertility management, scientific nutrition protocols, improved crop varieties, and precision agro-management techniques.
Pioneering Digital Agriculture Supply Chains
Manohar Singh Chauhan has successfully positioned his produce in India's rapidly growing digital commerce ecosystem. His potatoes are distributed nationwide through leading platforms including Zomato, Zepto, Swiggy, Reliance Retail, and Big Basket—a testament to the quality, consistency, and scale of his operations.
This sophisticated supply chain infrastructure demonstrates not only agricultural excellence but also business acumen in meeting the demands of modern retail and e-commerce channels.
Empowering 800 Farmers Through Collective Growth
Beyond personal success, Chauhan's most significant contribution lies in uplifting the farming community. In 2021, he founded the Khandauli Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), which has grown from 10 members to 800 farmers. The FPO generates a collective annual turnover exceeding ₹80 crore.
The organization provides member farmers with:
- High-quality, disease-resistant potato seeds developed in-house
- Comprehensive technical training programs
- Access to quality fertilizers and pesticide guidance
- Direct market connectivity ensuring fair prices
- Scientific farming methodologies reducing input costs
"A farmer will only succeed when they adopt farming as a science," Chauhan emphasizes, a principle that guides his extensive farmer training initiatives.
Setting New Standards for Indian Agriculture
Chauhan's journey from 20 acres to 300 acres exemplifies the transformative potential of combining traditional agricultural wisdom with modern technology and market integration. His success demonstrates that when farmers embrace scientific methods, leverage technology, and work collectively, agricultural income can multiply exponentially.
His expertise extends to seed production, where he develops varieties tailored to specific soil conditions and market requirements. His guidance on varietal selection, nutrient management, and crop protection has enabled countless farmers to increase profitability while reducing costs.
Recognition of National Impact
The RFOI Award 2025 adds to Manohar Singh Chauhan's growing list of state and national honors, cementing his status as a thought leader in Indian agriculture. His work represents a blueprint for the future of farming—one that is profitable, sustainable, and empowering for rural communities.
