To extend the shelf life of the vegetables and fruits, keeping fresh for a longer period is always there in the mind of the household. The fast life of working women daily life always interested to know the answer to keep vegetables stored for a longer period.
The solution was found by the 9th class students Sathvika, Vaishnavi and Sriharsha under the supervision of their teacher Kaur of the Hyderabad based Paramita High School during the science model exhibition. The model titled ` Storing of Veggies`.won the first prize in the South India Science Fair conducted by the K L Rao Science Society.
The paste made of Neem, Tulsi, Haldi (Turmeric) and Methra ( Fenugreek Seeds). The innovative idea is that the boxes smeared in the paste made by the locally household available material aiming for the benefit of the farming community to get the right price if they were unable to sell their produce quickly in view of the short shelf life of these fruits and vegetables. It takes some time more time to get the produce available in the market from the farm gate to the consumer.
The Paramita High school submitted six models in the science fair and there were 225 science models exhibited at the South India Science Fair attended by the students of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and the Karnataka States.
