Chandigarh University students continue to leave the hostel as protest over the leaked videos incident escalates. The University faces heavy protest over the “rumours” that objectionable videos of 60 female hostellers were recorded by a hostel mate and made viral on the internet.

In connection with the case, the Himachal Pradesh police on Sunday arrested a 23-year-old youth wanted in the case. The arrested youth belongs to Rohru in the Shimla district and was arrested from his native place. The girl who allegedly recorded the videos, also belongs to Rohru, was taken into police custody. A 31-year-old individual has also been detained from Shimla in the same case by Punjab Police for verification.

As the videos are getting viral, the victims are reportedly attempting suicide. Many girls have also experienced incidents of panic attacks and anxiety attacks during the protests.

Punjab Police is denying the whole accusation over the leaked videos altogether. “So far in our investigation, we have found out that there is only one video of the accused herself. She has not recorded any other video of anyone else. Electronic devices and mobile phones have been taken into custody and will be sent for forensic examination”, said Mohali SP.

Dr. RS Bawa, Pro-Chancellor of Chandigarh University said, "there have been no videos found of any student which are objectionable except a personal video shot by a girl which was shared by herself to her boyfriend."

He said that a preliminary investigation was conducted by the university and the allegations of 60 objectionable MMS videos being leaked 'is totally false and baseless.'

Chandigarh University claims it is ultimately collaborating with authorities in their inquiry, adding that all mobile phones and other documents have been turned over to them. “It is further clarified that the university is fully committed and competent to ensure the safety and security of all our students, especially our daughter-like girl students,” the university added.
