The Rythu Bandhu completes its five years of implementation this year. The Rythu Bandhu scheme is going to list a new landmark by providing Rs 5,000 per acre as input cost to 1.5 lakh tribal farmers of Telangana. Through this, the total beneficiaries of this scheme will reach 72 lakhs.
Rythu Bandhu scheme is a farmer welfare scheme introduced by the government of Telangana, India in the year 2018. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to farmers to support their agricultural operations and increase their income. Under the scheme, eligible farmers are provided financial assistance of Rs 5,000 per acre per season, to meet the expenses related to crop cultivation like seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, labor, and other expenses.
The scheme is open to all farmers, irrespective of the size of their landholding, and is credited directly into their bank accounts. The scheme has been widely appreciated for its effectiveness in supporting the agricultural sector and the farmers in the state.
CM K Chandrashekhar Rao instructed the district authorities to initiate the distribution of Podu land titles to potential beneficiaries. Media reports say that the collector of the district has started the process of collecting bank account details of the beneficiaries of the tribal farmers. More than 4 lakh acres of Podu land will be distributed to 1.5 lakh farmers.
When Rythu Bandhu scheme was launched, the total beneficiaries were 55 lakh and now it has surpassed 72 lakhs. The government has reserved Rs 15,000 crore for the Rythu Bandhu scheme in the current financial year but it is expected that more funds will be required when the tribal farmers of Telangana will be added to the scheme.
The scheme benefits will be disbursed to eligible farmers from June end when the farmers will sow their seeds post-South West monsoon. The scheme benefits will be first offered to tribal farmers who own land between one to five acres and then to the rest of the farmers.
