These States will Witness ‘Heavy Rainfall’ Today; Delhi-NCR Air Quality Deteriorates to Severe, AQI at 677

The weather department of India has issued a ‘heavy rainfall’ alert over many States including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on 22nd November and predicted of ‘thunderstorm with lightning’ at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Kerala & Mahe during the next 24 hours. On the other hand, the Air Quality Index of the National Capital shows a drastic fall in the air quality which stood at AQI of 677 at 9.00 AM on Thursday and falls under ‘Hazardous Category’. Noida falls under the ‘Most Hazardous Category’ with an overall AQI of 617 while Ghaziabad ranked 2nd most pollutant region among Delhi-NCR with AQI of 544.

“The Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation between 3.1 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level over Iran & neighborhood persists. It is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from today. Under its influence, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rain/snow and thunderstorm/hailstorm very likely over Jammu & Kashmir on 21st & 22nd November and over Himachal Pradesh on 22nd November”, said the weather department on its morning bulletin.

As per yesterday’s report, isolated places over South Interior Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Assam & Meghalaya, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands observed light shower along with thunderstorm. On the other hand, Tirupathi-4; Bangalore, Kozhikode, Kottayam, and Thiruvanathapuram lashed with heavy rain yesterday.

Maximum temperatures were reported appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Kerala & Mahe; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at Konkan & Goa and Coastal Karnataka; at a few places over Vidarbha, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Chhattisgarh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands while minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Assam & Meghalaya; at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam.
