Over the last few decades, the burden of malnutrition has drawn significant attention in India at the national and state levels, leading to a shift in focus from ensuring food security to nutrition security. A framework developed by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) on the "causes of malnutrition and death," outlines determinants that affect child nutrition outcomes at the immediate, underlying, and basic levels.
These include the link between nutrition intake and immunity at the surface level, which is supported by access to food and health systems, adequate childcare, and sanitary environments at the underlying level. Given the diverse causes of child undernutrition, effective action to address this issue in India and around the world necessitates a variety of information sources from various sectors.
To address the issue, its contributing factors, and proposed practical solutions, Transform Rural India is holding a 7-day-long conclave, India Rural Colloquy, between August 1 – 8, 2022 in hybrid mode in the capital.
