India is attempting to improve its egg and poultry export industries in the aftermath of the Ukraine-Russia conflict, which has harmed Ukraine's exports of the harvest. New Delhi is intending to begin its exports in Saudi Arabia and UAE (United Arab Emirates), which are one of Ukraine's main markets for commodities.
While it is no longer on the list of major egg-producing countries in Europe, Ukraine was once thought to be the primary source of poultry items for much of Eastern and Central Europe. Avangardco, a Ukrainian company, is the continent's largest egg producer, which produces both egg products without or with the shell.
Much more of India's effort to obtain access to Ukraine's global markets is significantly increasing the sales of Indian eggs, meat and meat products in the UAE. As per the Ukraine State Statistical Service, the UAE account for approximately 40% of the egg exports of Ukraine.
The UAE has recently lifted the five-year-old prohibition on the shipment of poultry items and eggs from India. The transition involves the assurance of New Delhi, that it would adhere to World Organization for Animal Health bio-safety standards in order to prevent bird flu infection. With this policy decision, India was able to supply hatching eggs, table eggs, and day-old chicks to Ukraine.
India’s Poultry Export Partners
Maldives and Oman are one of the main export locations for India. Japan, Vietnam, Russia, and Japan also receive shipments from the country. On the whole, the middle-eastern region is the biggest market for eggs. But besides being the region's largest buyer, the UAE has traditionally purchased just a tiny proportion of all Indian produce that poured into the province. "We want to change that," said a Commerce Department official.
Even before the Russian invasion started in late February, Ukraine's poultry industry was suffering greatly. According to the Ukraine Association of Poultry Producers, Ukraine's egg production decreased by 25% (around 3 billion eggs) in 2021 in comparison to 2020, as per press reports from that nation.
