The Uttar Pradesh government is inviting online applications for subsidies on agricultural equipment aimed at managing crop residue under the Promotion of Agricultural Mechanization for In-Situ Management of Crop Residue (CRM) scheme. Farmers can apply for these subsidies from July 2 to July 16.

The scheme includes a variety of equipment such as the super straw management system (Super SMS), happy seeder/smart seeder, super seeder, paddy straw chopper/shredder/mulcher, shrub master/rotary slasher, surface seeder, and hydraulic reversible MB plough. To apply, farmers need to visit the departmental portal at www.agriculture.up.gov.in and click on the “Remove Token for Subsidy on Machine” link. Applications will be accepted from noon on July 2 until midnight on July 16.

Under the CRM scheme, a farmer’s family (either husband or wife) can purchase one or more types of equipment from the approved list within a single financial year. Rural entrepreneurs and farmer producer organizations (FPOs) are also eligible beneficiaries, with subsidies of up to 50 percent on agricultural equipment and up to 80 percent on custom hiring centers.

The selection process involves an e-lottery system, ensuring transparency and fairness. Along with the primary selection of beneficiaries, a waiting list prioritizing up to 50 percent of the target will be generated. If the initial targets are unmet, beneficiaries will be chosen from this waiting list in sequence based on the e-lottery results.

Farmers are required to pay a specified security amount online for each machine during the application process. This amount will be refunded if the target is not met or if the farmer’s application is not selected in the e-lottery.

This initiative is part of Uttar Pradesh's broader efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability, addressing the critical issue of crop residue management. The government encourages all eligible farmers to take advantage of this scheme and contribute to environmentally friendly farming practices.
