The fourth edition of the VAIGA -2020 (Value Addition for Income Generation In Agriculture), an international workshop on Agro Processing and Value Addition has started in Kerala at Thekkinkad Ground from 4th January and will go on till 7th January. The workshop which will basically highlight the sustainable development through Agripreneurship will be inaugurated by the Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. Farmers, farm scientists and entrepreneurs from across the country will participate in this big exhibition of agriculture. Moreover, VAIGA aimed at exploring possibility of processing and value addition of agriculture products. Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunil Kumar will also participate in the event.
As per the official, the academic session of the event will be started from 2.30pm, Saturday with the subject line of ‘The potential of banana: production and export”. Dr. P. Indira devi, Director of research, kerala agriculture university will chair the session.
As per report, Dr. P. B. Pushpalatha, Professor and Head, Banana Research Station, kannara will discuss on ‘Improved production of banana: New technological options’ while Dr. K. N. Shiva, principal scientist, National Research Center for Banana, trichy will be highlighting on ‘Processing and value addition in Banana’. Thangam Ramachndran, Asst General Manager of APEDA will make a lecture on Potential of Banana Export and Dr. Anitha Cheriyan, department of plant pathology; college of horticulture, kerala Agriculture University will make a presentation on export oriented management of pests and diseases.
