    The authorities are introducing multiple initiatives to improve the well-being of labourers. As part of this effort, the Ministry has designed an eShram portal to establish an extensive record of unorganized workers. The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) offer life and disability coverage to these workers.

    An inter-Ministerial meeting took place on August 3, 2023, co-chaired by Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, and Bhupender Yadav, Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change. The main purpose of the meeting was to assess the readiness of the states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and the National Capital Territory of Delhi in their efforts to prevent paddy stubble burning during the current season.

  • Social Forestry Schemes: Empowering Communities for Sustainable Forest Management

    The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change encourages plantation in the country including various metropolitan cities through programmes and schemes. Various programmes namely Nagar Van Yojana, School Nursery Yojana, Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA), National Afforestation Programme (NAP), National Mission for a Green India (GIM), etc. which promote urban forestry, tree plantation on vacant lands and bunds on farmlands, etc by involving local communities, NGOs, educational institutions, local bodies, etc.
