  • India’s G20 Presidency: Indore to Host 1st Agriculture Deputies Meeting of Agriculture Working Group

    The G20's first Agriculture Deputies Meeting, a 3-day event, will be held in Indore from February 13-15, 2023. The meeting is expected to draw several hundred delegates from G20 member countries, guest countries, and international organisations. On the first day meeting, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the exhibition. This exhibition's main draw will be millets and their value-added food products, as well as stalls from Animal Husbandry and Fisheries.

     

  • Indira Gandhi Agriculture University Signs an Agreement with IRRI-Manila for Rice Research

    A contract for rice research was signed on February 9 by the Indira Gandhi Agriculture University (IGAU), Chhattisgarh, and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Manila. According to an official communication, scientists and researchers in Chhattisgarh can use the research facilities of the Manila institute for expanding research.

     

  • RARS Develops 2 New Jowar Varieties- 'BGV-44' & 'CSV-29' to Tackle Its Shortage

    The Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) in Vijayapura has created two high yielding varieties of the crop in response to a shortage in the production of jowar, a staple food for the people of north Karnataka. Scientists predict that the two varieties, known as BGV-44 and CSV-29, will increase jowar production. According to S.S. Karbhantanal, chief scientist and director of the Jowar Development Programme, the new varieties of seeds have been successfully sown in a few test areas.

    The 6th Africa Agri Expo, co-organized by Kenya's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, held on February 8-9, at Kenyatta International Convention Centre, with the goal of connecting Africa to the global agribusiness industry.
