  • Tesla finally enters India, first stop is Bengaluru

    Ending years of wait and speculation, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has finally entered India by registering Tesla as a company in Bengaluru.

    According to the details available on the Registrar of Companies website, Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited has been incorporated and the registered address is in Lavelle Road, Bengaluru.

  • SC panel on farm laws not far-sighted move: Legal experts

    The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the implementation of the three farm laws and set up a four-member committee to examine the grievances of the farmers, but in legal experts' opinion, the move to form the expert panel to resolve the impasse is not "far-sighted".

    The apex court, in its order, said: "The representatives of all the farmers' bodies, whether they are holding a protest or not and whether they support or oppose the laws shall participate in the deliberations of the Committee and put forth their viewpoint. 

  • Committee not a solution, say farmers' unions

    The farmers' unions said in a joint statement on Tuesday that the Supreme Court has stayed the implementation of the three Central farm laws as an interim measure, which is a welcome step, but it is not a solution.

    The statement has been issued by Darshan Pal on behalf of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, an umbrella organisation of the farmers' unions spearheading the protest against the three farm laws passed by the Parliament in September last year.

  • SC stays farms laws' implementation

    The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the implementation of the three laws - the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020; and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, until a committee of experts it set up talks to the government and the farmers and reports back to it. 

  • Cong to hold march in Patna in farmers' support on Jan 15

    The Bihar unit of the Congress on Tuesday decided to hold a march to the Raj Bhavan in Patna on January 15 to showcase the party's support for the agitating farmers.

    Senior Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das, who is the new in-charge of Congress affairs in Bihar, told: "For the last two days, we had back-to-back meetings on farmers' agitation at Patna's Sadakat Ashram. We have unanimously decided to organise the protest march to the Raj Bhavan here to show solidarity with our brave farmers."

  • UP farmers export 30 metric tonnes of green chillies, tomatoes to B'desh, Nepal

    Farmers from Ghazipur district have exported 30 metric tonnes of green chillies and tomatoes to Bangladesh and Nepal.

    As many as 1,500 farmers from Patal Ganga and adjoining areas of Ghazipur district are earning sufficient money through their hard work. In fact, the importers from Nepal and Bangladesh also visited the farmers in Ghazipur to make their payment. In Ghazipur, farmers are being provided the expertise to export along with higher productivity and growing of crops at international standards.

  • Bird flu scare: Chicken sales dip by 50-75% in Bihar

    Bird flu or avian influenza scare is having a big impact on poultry business in Bihar with chicken sales dipping by 50-75 per cent across the state.

    Kalimudin Ansari, a chicken seller at Boring Road in Patna, said that though no confirmed case of bird flu has been reported from anywhere in the state, customers are not coming to their shops.
