  • Agra Exports Over 6000 Quintals of Potatoes to Dubai, Malaysia & Qatar

    Approximately 6,000 quintals of potatoes are being exported from Agra to meet demand from hotels and homes in Malaysia, Qatar, and Dubai. Agra's Chief Development Officer A Manikandan flagged off trucks loaded with potatoes that farmers have been paid Rs 900 per quintal for export potatoes, while the government's procurement price is Rs 650 per quintal. In this situation, exporting potatoes is proving to be a profitable business for these farmers.

     

  • AAHAR 2023: Narendra Singh Tomar Endorses PBFIA's Dawn of a Plant-Based Conference in New Delhi

    As Chief Guest, Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, graced and inaugurated the conference. While speaking to the audience, Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar emphasized the importance of plant-based food and assured that the Ministry of Agriculture will take this into account in future plans. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) co-hosted the "Dawn of a Plant-Based Age" Conference, which was organized by the Plant-Based Foods Industry Association (PBFIA) and Ph.D. Chamber, supported by Franchise India, powered by US-SOY, Ernst & Young (EY) as Knowledge Partner, Brenntag as Principal Sponsor, and endorsed by the Government of Canada.

    The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the World Bank together have announced the first international conference on ‘Blended Learning Ecosystem for Higher Education in Agriculture’ in India under the National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) for coordinating, guiding, and managing research and education in agriculture.

     

  • In J&K, Lavender Cultivation is Helping Marginal Farmers Change Their Fortunes

    Leaving behind the old-age traditional farming practices of growing maize crops, approximately 2,500 marginal farmers living on the extensive hilly slopes of the Bhaderwah district of the Jammu division are relishing profitable aromatic lavender cultivation. The ‘Purple Revolution’ was successfully brought in by the farmers. Dr. Jatinder Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology said that Bhaderwah has not only sprouted as the birthplace of lavender in India but has also contributed to the history of bringing the purple revolution in our country.
