Kharif Planting Rises 40 Percent on Strong Monsoon Onset
Crop planting for the kharif season has jumped 40 percent year-on-year, helped by strong beginning of the monsoon season. The surge in sowing has been led by oilseeds as well as coarse cereals. Rainfall since 1st has been 31 percent higher than last year, giving a big boost to crop planting. So far, the total area under cultivation has increased to 13.13 million hectares, from 9.42 million hectares a year ago. -
Chhattisgarh Launches ‘Roka-Chheka Abhiyan’ to Protect Kharif Crops
Government of Chhattisgarh has launched ‘Roka-Chheka Abhiyan’ in all villages in the state that seeks to revive old agricultural methods and to protect Kharif crops from open grazing by stray cattle. An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) official said that “Roka-Chheka is one of the popular traditional agricultural methods of the state that the state government has decided to make more organised & effective from this year. The programme aims to ban the open grazing of stray cattle after the planting season is over”. -

Keeping in mind the rapidly growing corona positive cases, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) may allow Class 12 students to graduate early under a special marking scheme, but offer them the option to take the Board exams at a later date to improve their performance. -

Summer Season: Google on 20th June 2020 marked the beginning of summer in Northern Hemisphere through a doodle. The photo is of a flamingo in a hot air balloon on a bright sunny day. As per the meteorological definition, summer generally starts in June and goes on till the end of August. The onset of the season also marks the end of the Spring. -
Father’s Day 2020: History, Significance
Father’s Day is a special occasion that commemorates fathers and father figures around the world, and acknowledges and honours their efforts and contributions towards raising their children. 21st June is known as the ‘Father’s Day’ which observed globally to that commemorates fathers and father figures.If we go back to the history, Father’s Day was founded by one Sonora Smart Dodd — who was the daughter of American Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart — in America, in the year 1910. Since then, the day has been celebrated every year in as many as 111 countries. In some countries like Australia and New Zealand, however, it is said that Father’s Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in the month of September. And in Brazil, meanwhile, fathers are honoured on the second Sunday of August.
