  • Link Sugarcane Prices to Sugar Rates to keep industry in sound financial health: Niti Aayog

    A Niti Aayog task force has suggested linking sugarcane rates to sugar prices to keep the industry in sound financial health. In addition, it has pitched for a one-time hike in minimum sugar price (MSP) to Rs 33/kilo to help sugar mills cover the cost of production.

    The report of the board on 'Sugarcane and Sugar Industry', which was headed by Ramesh Chand, Niti Aayog Member (Agriculture), was finalised in the month of March. It was posted on the government think-tank's portal on 21st August 2020.

  • NTA Announces ICAR AIEEA, UGC-NET, DU Entrance Exam Dates

    National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the new dates of various exams like ICAR AIEEA exams, UGC- NET, Delhi University entrance test, IGNOU OPENMAT etc. As per the revised schedule, UGC NET June will be held between 16th and 25th September. DU entrance test will be held from 6th to 11th September. IGNOU OPENMAT MBA exam would be held on  15th September and PhD entrance test will be conducted on 4th October.

    The ICAR AIEEA UG exam will be held on 7th and 8th September while the dates for its PG & PhD level exams have not been announced.

  • Heavy and Continuous Rain across India Disrupts Normal Life; Floods in Bihar-UP Worsen

    Many parts of India, specially Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been receiving heavy rainfall since past few days.

    In some states, the situation has worsened and has turned into flood-like conditions. Heavy rains and waterlogging have disrupted normal life even in the capital city of Delhi-NCR over the past couple of days from where videos have emerged showing cars, buses and vehicles trapped on overflowing roads.

  • Fourteen Air India passengers have tested Covid-19 positive till August 20

    The Hong Kong government said that 14 passengers travelling in Air India flight from Delhi to Hong Kong on 14th August have tested Covid-19 positive till Thursday. It further said that due to this incident, all Air India passenger flights have been restricted from landing in Hong Kong till August-end.

    According to the rules issued by the Hong Kong government last month, a passenger from India can arrive in the country only if he/she has a Coronavirus negative certificate from a test done 72 hours prior to the journey.
