Indian Organic Certification Holds ‘Many Weakness’, Says European Union
European Union has recently conducted an audit of organic food production in India and has found a few loopholes, including a lack of knowledge amongst farmers about organic farming practices. A recent audit conducted by the European Union's DG Health and Food Safety has uncovered significant deficiencies in the certification of Indian organic products that were being exported to Europe. The audit, conducted in November 2022, revealed numerous weaknesses in the supervision and implementation of controls at several levels.

WPPS Recommends Prioritizing Wheat as Main Food Crop to Attain ‘Zero Hunger’ Goal
The Wheat Products Promotion Society (WPPS) has emphasized the importance of positioning wheat as the primary food crop in India to meet the country's future food requirements. Recently, the WPPS organized a one-day seminar focusing on the role of wheat in India's pursuit of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)-2, which aims to achieve zero hunger by 2030. As per the media statement, the seminar aimed to provide key recommendations to policymakers, industry stakeholders, and research institutions in order to accomplish SDG-2 and ensure long-term food security.

Up to 8.57 percent over 2021, the estimated value of landings was Rs 58,247 crores. In 2022, India witnessed a notable 15 percent increase in marine fish landing, reaching 3.49 million tonnes, as compared to the previous year's figure, according to an English daily.
