  • Cyclone Nisarga Strikes Alibaug Near Mumbai

    Severe cyclonic storm Nisarga has made landfall on the Maharashtra coast near Alibaugh at around 1 pm today. No one is allowed to come out in public places such as beaches, parks and promenades along the Mumbai coastline, said the police. Maharashtra, Gujarat, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli are put on high alert.  

  • Horticulture Production in 2019-20 to be 320.48 million tonnes

    This year, onions will not bring tears as the Centre expects 17 percent rise in the onion productivity from last year. According to second advance estimate, onion production is expected to be 26.74 million tonnes in the year 2019-20 in comparison to 22.82 million tonnes in 2018-19. In addition, the 2nd advance estimates puts total horticulture production in 2019-20 to be at 320.48 million tonnes, which is 3.13 percent higher than last year.

  • US President Invites PM Modi to attend G7 Summit

    An invitation from American President Donald Trump to attend the next Group of Seven (G7) summit, has been accepted by PM Narendra Modi, according to India's foreign ministry officials. They said that in a telephone call with Indian PM on Tuesday (3rd June 2020) evening, Donald Trump spoke about the US presidency of G7 & conveyed his wish to expand the sphere of the grouping beyond the existing membership to incorporate other important nations, including India.

  • Google Takes Down the Viral Indian App That Deleted Chinese Apps

    After removing apps like Mitron (Tiktok’s made-in-India version), Google has taken down another Indian app named ‘Remove China Apps’. The app was being used to let the users identify which apps are of Chinese origin and helped people in deleting the Chinese apps. The app was developed by Jaipur-based company called OneTouch AppLabs and was downloaded by 50 lakh users in just over two weeks of its launch.

  • A Chemical Factory in Gujarat's Dahej Explodes, 40 Workers Injured

    At a chemical factory in Gujarat’s Dahej area, a major explosion happened, leaving 40 workers injured at the plant. Dahej is known as the main industrial area in the state of Gujarat. There were ten fire trucks at the site. People in villages near the plant have excavated to a rather safe area, as per officials. The black smoke rose from the factory after the explosion.

  • PM Modi Promises More Reforms for Bringing Growth Back 

    PM Narendra Modi has pledged to increase structural reforms to boost growth prospects because the Indian economy heads into a recession. The government hopes that economic activities will rebound quickly, & will lead to a sharp but short downturn. It is not clear whether that would happen as widespread job losses have prompted consumers to tighten their purse strings. 

  • Cyclone Nisarga Updates: Flight operations stopped at Mumbai airport till 7 pm; 144 Imposed 

    The severe cyclonic storm Nisarga has finally made landfall Maharashtra’s Raigad district at around 12.30 pm today which has created panic situation among residents. Flight operations have been suspended at Mumbai airport between 2:30 pm and 7 pm. Moreover, thousands of residents have been evacuated from along the coasts of Maharashtra and Gujarat.
