Weather Update: Heavy Snowfall, Rainfall & Fog Over The North India In Two days
On Thursday, severe cold conditions overtook several states in North India, including heavy rainfall and snowfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the cold weather will persist in north India for the next 48 hours. Snow fell in several regions throughout Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu, and Kashmir. Heavy snowfall has prompted the IMD to issue a yellow notice for the aforementioned states.

Farmer’s Keen on Hiring the Affordable Kisan Drones
Farmers want to employ 'Kisan drones' to spray pesticides and fertilizers on their crops if they can rent them for a reasonable price, according to farmer organizations. "Using Kisan drones will minimize farm labour dependency," stated Yashwanth Chidipothu, national spokesperson of the Federation of All India Farmers' Association (Faifa). "However, farmers are unable to purchase drones on their own." They have the option to recruit them." He said that the government may set up certain agencies that would buy drones and rent them to farmers for up to Rs 350 per acre for spraying insecticides and fertilizers.

PM Modi To Inaugurate ‘Statue of Equality’ On Feb 5
On Saturday, February 5, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Hyderabad to kick off the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of ICRISAT and to inaugurate the 216-foot tall 'Statue of Equality' commemorating the 11th century Bhakti Saint Sri Ramanujacharya. Somesh Kumar, the Telangana Chief Secretary, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to discuss the preparations for his visit.

Export of Mills 26.5 Lakh Tonnes of Sugar Till Jan 2021-22
The government announced on Wednesday that sugar mills exported 26.5 lakh tonnes of sugar in the first four months of the 2021-22 marketing year, which ended in September. Sugar exports are expected to reach 70 lakh tonnes in 2020-21. "Till date, contracts for export of sugar worth over 40 lakh tonnes have been inked for the current sugar season 2021-22, and that too without any announcement of any export subsidy," Minister of State for Food and Consumer Affairs Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said in response to a Lok Sabha question.

Yearly Sugar Production Till January 5.6%, Says ISMA
According to the Indian Sugar Mills Association, India's sugar production in 2021-22 is up 5.6 percent year on year as of January 31. (ISMA). According to ISNA, 507 sugar mills were operating in the country on January 31, 2022, producing 187.08 million tonnes of sugar, compared to 177.06 million tonnes produced by 491 mills on the same date last season. This is 10.02 lac tonnes more than the previous season's production for the same period.
