  • Mayawati flays UP govt on farmers' 'harassment' over pollution 

    Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Saturday flayed the Uttar Pradesh government over what she called "harassment and state-sponsored excesses" on farmers in the guise of action against that causing pollution, especially by stubble-burning. 

  • Haryana imposes ban on firecrackers 

    Haryana on Friday imposed a complete ban on firecrackers to prevent the risk of spread of COVID-19 due to polluted atmosphere created by bursting of crackers. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar told the media that after a detailed discussion, it was decided to completely ban the sale of crackers in the state. 

  • Vice President inaugurates 120th birth anniversary celebrations of Acharya NG Ranga 

    The Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu today called for multipronged efforts to make Indian agriculture sustainable and profitable. He said that we will be able to produce more in less area by changing our approach and practices.  Naidu described him as a great freedom fighter, a farmers’ leader, a social reformer and an outstanding parliamentarian. "A true son of the soil, he is considered as the father of the Indian Kisan Movement along with "Swami Sahajanand Saraswati," he added.  

  • Yashvardhan Sinha takes oath as new CIC 

    Yashvardhan Kumar Sinha took oath as the new Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) here on November 7, a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement said. President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath to Sinha as the CIC at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning. 

    The post was lying vacant since the retirement of Bimal Julka on August 26. Sinha will have a tenure of about three years as the CIC. Three new Information Commissioners will be administered the oath of office later in the day by Sinha. 

  • India's first solar-based water supply project launched in Arunachal 

    Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on November 6, dedicated Indias first solar-based Integrated Multi-Village Water Supply Project (IMVWSP) to the people of Arunachal Pradesh. The solar-based lift water supply project for 39 villages in Lower Dibang Valley district in northeastern Arunachal Pradesh has commissioned at Rs 28.50 crore. 

  • Punjab’s message on clear tracks for goods trains misleading says Indian Railways  

    The Indian Railways on Saturday described the message of the Punjab government that the rail tracks were clear for the goods trains as "misleading" and not operationally feasible. It again urged the state government to clear the railway tracks and the premises occupied amid the ongoing farmer's agitation, to resume the train services. 

    Addressing a press conference here, Railway Board Chairman and CEO V.K. Yadav said, "Last evening the state government gave us a message that tracks are clear only for the goods trains. 

  • Madrasa opens in Dhaka for transgender people 

    In a first-of-its-kind initiative in Bangladesh, a madrasa has opened in Dhaka meant for members of the transgender community, the media reported. In the report on Friday, bdnews24 said that over 100 students of any age can study in the Dawatul Quran Third Gender Madrasa, situated on a 1,200 square-feet second floor of a three-storey building at the Lohar Bridge Dhal in Kamrangirchar. At the inauguration on Friday, 40 transgender persons were enrolled. 

  • PM Modi addresses 51st convocation of IIT Delhi 

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the fresh IIT graduates to recognize the needs of the country and connect with the changes on the ground. He also asked them to identify with the aspirations of the common people in the context of Atamnirbanar Bharat.  

    Congratulating more than 2000 IITians on their convocation, the Prime Minister said AtmaNirbhar Campaign is a mission that gives opportunities to youth, technocrats and tech-enterprise leaders of the nation. 

  • CBSE likely to conduct Class X, XII board exams earlier than expected in 2021 

    The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to conduct class 10, class 12 board exams 2021 earlier than expected. However, no official announcement has been made in this regard from CBSE.  

    Meanwhile, it has been reported that CBSE has completed the process of list of candidates, examination forms (LOC). Besides, several schools affiliated with the board are also following their time table and are trying to complete the syllabus so that the crucial board examinations could be held on time.
