Incubator

Incubators are commonly found in hospitals, but they are also found on farms, where they keep eggs warm before hatching and later protect the fledgling chicks. A scientist employs a different form of incubator, one that regulates the temperature in a lab to grow microorganisms or cells. Because all incubators help anything grow and develop, businesses sometimes use the phrase to refer to a location or piece of equipment that might assist a fledgling firm in getting off the ground or expanding.
