Poultry

Poultry includes any domesticated bird raised for egg or meat production, such as ducks, geese, chickens, guinea fowl, and turkeys.

Backyard poultry is becoming increasingly popular. People like to raise baby poultry such as chicks, ducklings, goslings, and poults. Many people raise chickens to obtain fresh eggs. Although having backyard poultry may be entertaining and educational, owners should be aware that poultry can occasionally transmit deadly pathogens that cause people to become sick.
