On 5th October, 2020 the State’s Minister of Energy declared that around 25,000 farmer’s would be benefited with new solar panel project, which will be installed at the various power house stations of the state’s electricity department (the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd).
According to the minister Nitin Raut the initiative has been approved in order to help the state farmers from facing huge electricity issues especially during day times. This project would provide the farmers to work on their farms without any difficulty at least throughout the day time.
In order to implement the scheme sooner the minister has requested the farmers to provide enough space for the setup of the solar project.
Last year the minister had also introduced ‘Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Pump Yojana’ under which state farmers would be provided with solar pumps. Within a span of 3 years around 1 Lakh solar pumps setup have been guaranteed by the minister. The solar power project is also a part of the same scheme as claimed by the state electricity minister Nitin Raut.
However, one of the issues that rose was the dues which haven’t been paid yet by the (agricultural) consumers.
