Under ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, financial help is given to all the farmers in the country. Around 12 crores farmers are currently taking advantage of this scheme. An amount Rs 1.60 lakh crore has been sent so far in the bank accounts of farmers under PM Kisan Scheme. On 9th August, PM Modi had released the last instalment.

Notably, there are some terms & conditions to take advantage of this scheme, only after fulfilling them; the money is transferred to the account. Government is recovering the amount from farmers who have illegally taken benefit of PM Kisan scheme. Many reports have claimed that the notices are being served to ineligible farmers by the authorities; also recovery is being made from them.

In Mainpur district of Uttar Pradesh, the administration has issued notice to 9,219 ineligible farmers & ordered them to deposit the money of PM Kisan. Fraud includes the cases like from husband & wife, deceased farmers, and fund transfer in the wrong account, wrong Aadhar, taxpayers, and the pensioners.

The Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, said that the selection or identification of the beneficiaries for PM Kisan Yojana is the responsibility of State & Union Territory Governments and when the correct & verified data of concerned beneficiaries is uploaded on the portal of PM Kisan by the states, after that the money of the scheme is directly deposited in the bank account of beneficiaries.

He said that therefore the responsibility of recovery of the amount is deposited in the accounts of ineligible beneficiaries and rest of them with the respective state governments. The Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said in Parliament that states & union territories have started action to recover Rs 3,000 crore from 42 lakh ineligible farmers of PM Kisan Yojana. These are the farmers who did not fulfil the conditions of PM-KISAN scheme.

Out of this large number of the ineligible beneficiaries, the maximum number of 3.86 lakh is from wrong account number or fake Aadhar card. The Income taxpayers are at number two. Their number is 2,34,010. While 32,300 beneficiaries are not alive & the money of the scheme is being raised in their name too. 57,900 Farmers are with remaining cases. The Agriculture Minister said that it has come to our notice that the ineligible beneficiaries including some taxpayers, they have got the benefit of the scheme.

Whereas farmers, who are filing the income tax returns or doing government jobs are kept out of the purview of PM Kisan scheme. After the identification of such people, their respective states have started the process of recovery of the money from ineligible beneficiaries and as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs). Apart from this, many measures have been taken by the government to ensure that the right farmers get the benefits of this scheme.

More than 42 lakh ineligible people in the country have wrongly taken the instalments of Rs 2000 every four months under the PM Kisan Scheme, due to which the government has lost Rs 2,900 crore. The highest numbers of these ineligible farmers are from Assam, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and Chhattisgarh & Bihar. According to the Agriculture Minister, Rs 554.01 crore has been transferred to the accounts of around 8.35 lakh ineligible farmers of Assam, about Rs 438 crore is to be recovered from Punjab & about Rs 358 crore from Maharashtra and Rs 340.56 crore will be withdrawn from the ineligible farmers of Tamil Nadu & Rs 258.64 crore from Ayog farmers of Uttar Pradesh
