PM Kisan Yojana: How to Apply and Get Free Kisan Credit Card (KCC)?

Kisan Credit Card was launched in 1998 to address farmers’ financial needs by providing them term loans. Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Scheme aims to provide farmers with timely and required credit support for their farming and non-farming activities.

Kisan Credit Card, was introduced by Government to relieve farmers of the burden of high interest rates paid to private money lenders.

Now farmers don’t have to complete KYC because Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has been linked to KCC. To get Kisan Credit Card, farmers just have to complete a one-page application form. KCC registration form can be downloaded from pmkisan.gov.in official website. However, to use KCC, a farmer should first open an account under PM Kisan Yojana.

Kisan Credit Card Eligibility:

The farmer applying for KCC should be at least 18 years older and no above 75 years old.

A farmer can avail loan of up to Rs 3 lakh for farming with KCC. The money would be paid to farmer with a 4 percent interest rate.

You can apply for a Kisan credit card if you are: 

  • Farmers-individuals or joint creditors.

  • Tenant farmers, sharecroppers & other farmers form Self Help Groups / Joint Liability Groups.

Documents required for Kisan Credit Card:

To obtain KCC, farmer will have to submit certain documents like aAadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, Passport. For proof of address - Electricity bill, Voter ID, Aadhaar card, Lease agreement.

How to apply for Kisan Credit Card Scheme?

  • Go to the official bank website

  • Click on download Kisan Credit Card form from drop-down menu

  • Then click on Apply and enter required details.

  • Submit it. You will be allotted a reference number for future use.

Farmers from animal husbandry and fisheries sector can also apply for loans through Kisan Credit Card. They can avail loan of up to Rs 2 lakh at 4% interest rate.
