Jaipur: Amid the intensifying farmer's protest, the state government of Rajasthan has decided to set up solar pump under 'Kusum Yojana' to provide electricity to the farmers in remote areas of Rajasthan to get rid of electricity bills and provide timely energy for farming work. As per reports, 11.85 crore grant will be made available for setting up pumps across the states.

5 thousand farmers will be benefited

Viewing the weak economic condition of most of the tribal farmers of the state, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced to benefit 5 thousand tribal farmers by installing solar pumps in the budget for the year 2020-21.

Grant of 11.85 Crore

Under the scheme, 4500 tribal farmers will be benefited through 2 components and Rs 11.85 crore will be spent on this. Under Component B, a grant of 45 thousand rupees will be given to 1500 tribal farmers for installation of solar energy pump plant and an amount of 6.75 crores has been sanctioned for this. The scheme will be implemented by the Department of Technology.

Electricity expenditure of farmers will get relief

With this scheme, the farmers will be able to get more yield from farming, which will increase their income and get rid of electricity bills. Under component C, agricultural wells of farmers whose wells are available in the tribal areas will be electrified by solar energy. This will relieve the tribal farmers from the expenditure on electricity and the production of surplus power will be transferred to the grid.

The income from this will be adjusted to pay the installment of the loan taken by them. 3000 tribal farmers will be benefited in the C component and a grant of 17 thousand will be given per farmer. 5.10 crore has been approved for this.
