A day after Diwali, every year, Govardhan Puja is celebrated. On this day, devotees of Shri Krishna honor the deed of Lord Krishna, who raised the powerful Govardhan parvat on his little finger to shield the villagers from Lord Indra's wrath, who had delivered rain and flood to the village.

During pratipada tithi, shukla paksha of the Kartik month, Govardhan Puja is observed. On Govardhan Puja, also known as Annakut Puja, food prepared with wheat, rice, and a curry made with gram flour and green vegetables are served to Lord Krishna.

How did Govardhan Puja got delayed due to Solar Eclipse?

Even while Govardhan Puja is often observed one day after Diwali, it might occasionally occur a day later. The partial solar eclipse (aanshik Surya Grahan), which will be visible from various regions of the country on October 25—a day after Diwali—has caused Govardhan Puja to be postponed by one day this year. Astrologers say the Govardhan puja will now be conducted on October 26 during the auspicious muhurat because it would have been performed on October 25 at the sutak time window, which runs from early morning 3:14 am until late afternoon 5:40 pm.

The partial solar eclipse will be visible from several Indian cities, including New Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Ujjain, Varanasi, and Mathura.
