Total arrival of Dhaniya or coriander was reported at 40000 bags and prices were up Rs. 50-100/qtl amid strong local demand. Ramganj mandi is the All India major benchmark market for Dhaniya, therefore has a major influence over futures prices of Dhaniya traded at NCDEX. At present the most active August Contract of Dhaniya trades near 6460-6470/qtl, up Rs 44/qtl over previous closing price. Important to note, Ramganj Mandi is a city in Kota district in the state of Rajasthan. It is also known as stone city, or the “coriander city”. It has the largest grain market of coriander with around 6500 tons of coriander seeds arriving on a single day during season. The spices Giant MDH buys its coriander seeds from Ramganj Mandi mostly.
