Webinar on World Environment Day 2022

Environment is a major concern for Mother Earth's creatures, and we must take care of it. We have been consuming, exploiting, and destroying our planet's ecosystems for a long time. What we eat and how we produce food have a significant environmental impact. From forests to peatlands to coasts, we all rely on healthy ecosystems to survive. The interaction of living organisms - plants, animals, and humans - with their surroundings is defined as an ecosystem.

Agriculture is not only an important part of social and economic development, but it also has a significant environmental impact. Climate change, deforestation, biodiversity loss, dead zones, genetic engineering, irrigation problems, pollutants, soil degradation, unbalanced pesticide & fungicide problem, and waste are all examples of how agriculture contributes to environmental degradation.

Agriculture, on the other hand, can have a positive impact on the environment, for example, by harnessing the greenhouse effect within crops and soils, or by mitigating drought and flood risks through the adoption of certain farming practices such as increasing carbon by recycling. reducing farm waste by recycling it and conserving runoff water through bunding, checking dams, afforestation, and well recharge in a micro watershed catchment area.

In this context, Krishi Jagran is hosting a webinar on "World Environment Day" on June 5, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. with the theme "Sustainable Ecosystem and Agriculture". Various leaders, agricultural experts, government officials/scientists, and environmentalists will be invited to discuss current issues, policies, and future possibilities for sustainable ecosystem and agriculture of our planet.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • Promote the 3R concept of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

  • Groundwater Recharging through a Rainwater Harvesting

  • Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions

  • Helping to build a sustainable ecosystem individually

  • Raising awareness about the balanced use of pesticides, fungicides, and fertilizer

  • Government’s Initiatives Towards Sustainable Agriculture
