Leveling and smoothing the field surface is an essential practice to prepare proper seed bed and directly involve in crop growth and development as all nutrients and water move according to soil gradient. Farmer since long has been doing this job with the help of Ox or Bulls.
But now it has become very easy for the farmer to do the week or fortnight job of leveling the land with the Trimble Spectra Laser Leveler and within few hours it can be possible to level the land.
The price is around Rs. 2.90 lacs and the tractor cost is around 7-8 lacs. With an estimated expenditure of Rs.10-11 lacs one can earn handsomely say, Rs.600-700 per hour without even doing any khetibadi, without indulging in the labourious job of the cultivation.
The Krishi Jagran team met Suraj alias Rinku of Muradabad district in Uttar Pradesh who earns Rs. 3000-4000 per day. And this way he manages to earn Rs. 90,000 to Rs.1,20,000 per month. Rinku does not have any formal training or education.
He uses his equipment and also gives it on rent for leveling the land of other farmers and cultivator in Muradabad villages.
The Krishi Jagran Team also visited Lalanpur village and saw that the family of 4-5 have tractor and the spectra trible laser leveler doing the field work, where the brick owner has taken out the leveler on rent to make the field smooth.

The Trimble laser land leveler is a machine equipped with a laser guided drag bucket that is much more effective and quicker in ensuring the desired flatness and slope of the land surface. A precisely even land would mean that irrigation water reaches every part of the field with minimal waste from run-off or water-logging.
Laser land leveling considerably lowers irrigation time for rice by 47-69 hours per hectare per season and for wheat by 10-12 hours per hectare per season. It increases yields by an average 8 percent for both Rice and Wheat crops. It saves electricity about 755 kWh per hectare per year for rice-wheat systems.
