Leveling and smoothing the field surface is an essential practice to prepare proper seed bed and directly involve in crop growth and development as all nutrients and water move according to soil gradient.  Farmer since long has been doing this job with the help of Ox or Bulls.

But now it has become very easy for the farmer to do the week or fortnight job of leveling the land with the Trimble Spectra Laser Leveler and within few hours it can be possible to level the land.

The price is around Rs. 2.90 lacs and the tractor cost is around 7-8 lacs. With an estimated expenditure of Rs.10-11 lacs one can earn handsomely say, Rs.600-700 per hour without even doing any khetibadi, without indulging in the labourious job of the cultivation.

The Krishi Jagran team met Suraj alias Rinku of Muradabad district in Uttar Pradesh who earns Rs. 3000-4000 per day. And this way he manages to earn Rs. 90,000 to Rs.1,20,000 per month. Rinku does not have any formal training or education.

He uses his equipment and also gives it on rent for leveling the land of other farmers and cultivator in Muradabad villages.

The Krishi Jagran Team also visited Lalanpur village and saw that the family of 4-5 have tractor and the spectra trible laser leveler doing the field work, where the brick owner has taken out the leveler on rent to make the field smooth.

Have a look at the video:

The Trimble laser land leveler is a machine equipped with a laser guided drag bucket that is much more effective and quicker in ensuring the desired flatness and slope of the land surface. A precisely even land would mean that irrigation water reaches every part of the field with minimal waste from run-off or water-logging.

Laser land leveling considerably lowers irrigation time for rice by 47-69 hours per hectare per season and for wheat by 10-12 hours per hectare per season. It increases yields by an average 8 percent for both Rice and Wheat crops. It saves electricity about 755 kWh per hectare per year for rice-wheat systems.

It helps the farmer in the following ways:

  1. Yield: Uniform land leveling in Paddy improves the yield by 8-10 percent

  2. Better weed control: Improved water coverage decreases extent of weed infestation by 20-30 percent

  3. Reduction in Time and water required for Irrigation: There is 20-30 percent  water savings in a laser leveled field.

An important part of the Laser Leveler, Trimble offers a variety of laser transmitter.

Laser Transmitters

Trimble offers an entire line of Spectra Precision® laser transmitters that can be used to manually perform a variety of water management tasks and ensure that the water on your field is distributed evenly. Laser transmitter options for various needs and budgets are available.

Spectra Precision Laser AG401 - An entry-level, self-leveling laser transmitter, ideal for operations on zero-grade fields that do not require grade adjustments. Use for automatic machine control at long ranges up to 1300 feet (400 meters)

Spectra Precision Laser GL600 Series - A highly reliable laser transmitter series, ideal for users requiring the ability to set single or dual slopes in their fields. GL600 series lasers are ideal for field leveling applications using automatic machine control. Both the GL612 and GL622 can be used up to 1300 feet (400 meters).

Spectra Precision Laser GL700 Series - A self-leveling advanced laser transmitter series ideal for applications requiring a high level of accuracy, beam stability, and the capability to set single or dual slopes. Use for automatic machine control at long ranges up to 1500 feet (450 meters).

How the Company Trimble Transform

Trimble is transforming the way the world works by delivering products and services that connect the physical and digital worlds. Core technologies in positioning, modelling, connectivity and data analytics enable customers to improve productivity, quality, safety and sustainability. From purpose built products to enterprise lifecycle solutions, Trimble software, hardware and services are transforming a broad range of industries such as agriculture, construction, geospatial and transportation and logistics.

The Trimble's Agriculture Division

Trimble's Agriculture Division provides solutions that solve complex technology challenges across the entire agricultural landscape. The solutions enable farmers and advisors to allocate scarce resources to produce a safe, reliable food supply in a profitable and environmentally sustainable manner. Covering all seasons, crops, terrains and farm sizes, Trimble solutions can be used on most equipment on the farm, regardless of manufacturer and production year. The acquisition of Müller-Elektronik, a German company specializing in implement control and precision farming solutions, extends Trimble's precision agriculture capabilities from the vehicle to the implement. To enable better decision making, Trimble offers technology integration that allows farmers to collect, share, and manage information across their farm, while providing improved operating efficiencies in the agricultural value chain. Trimble solutions include guidance and steering; grade control, leveling and drainage; flow and application control; irrigation; harvest solutions; desktop and cloud-based data management; and correction services.
