Here, we have figured out the best formulas for stress management at the workplace.
How to manage stress at workplace
Act before you react
It’s always better to act first than giving reaction to the situation. Half of the problems will be gone if we start focusing more on our works rather than giving reaction towards something which we can’t control. It activates our stress hormone, if it’s chronic and slow down the confidence level, concentration and well being. Identify the aspects of the situation where you can control and where you can’t. Focus on your strong points and start working hard than giving reaction towards something which is not in your hand.
Start with a deep breath
After coming out of a meeting if you feel tensed or more overwhelmed then do take a long breath. For 2 minutes continue to inhale and exhale by closing one nostril and remember the best thing happen in your life till now.
Forget about Interruptions
Throughout the day, we exhausted with the phone calls, emails, work pressure and meeting the sudden deadlines which distract you from your work and peace of your mind. While controlling interruptions is not in your hand, you can control your responses. You can set certain boundaries and limit by answering email during certain windows, setting up office hours to talk to a person and closing the other doors to focus on one.
Set priority
While working vigorously to meet deadlines and fast changing priorities you forget to set your own priorities. Sometimes it’s critical to define which one is more important and why. It’s important to understand your role and expectation from the organization, strategic priorities of the company and your personal goals and strengths. Arrange your ‘to do list’ with these three things keeping in mind.
Eat right, sleep right
Grab foods which give you a high protein, carbohydrate, and less sugar. Eating fast foods and oily foods contribute to your stress system. Go for the right foods to avoid stress and sleep a minimum of 7-8 hours. While we sleep, our body gets engaged in repairing our damaged cells and boosts you for the next day. So eliminate all the disturbing elements which disturb you in the sleeping of 7-8 hours and go for healthy foods.
Do breakfasts like a King
Never skip your breakfast. That’s probably the worst thing you can do to your body. Go for high fiber and protein-rich foods and grab an apple or any fruit while going out for office.
Change your perspective
Our perspective often reflects our subjective interpretation of the facts, often seen through the filter of ourselves. Sometimes, you can step back and take a more objective view which leads you to take things more effective and less personally.
Identify self-imposed tensions
Sometimes we created our own stress level by setting certain image towards something and expecting more and more. We can focus on working more and more and expecting less.
Sometimes we need to implement ‘let be gone be by gone’
Sometimes it’s ok to take things casually and say ‘let be gone be by gone’ which is not your hand rather than making hell out of it.
De-stress your body
To manage stress effectively, we need to focus on at least three areas of our lives: our physical health, our mental health, and our sense of purpose. We spend more time engaging our body’s stress responses than we actually engaged in our relaxation responses. Stress is a factor which can seriously damage your body as it’s a physical and hormonal chain reaction from the mind and body. The foundation for living a stress-free life is lying on what we eat, how we move and how much we sleep.
