  3. Cascara Tea: Cascara tea has a potent laxative effect, and it is crucial to adhere to the recommended dosage to prevent side effects. Cascara is available in both tea and laxative capsule forms.

  4. Peppermint Tea: Peppermint tea is believed to contribute to improved digestion and may aid in preventing and treating constipation due to its positive impact on digestive health.

In addition to these herbal teas, green tea and black tea, whether served hot or iced, may have mild laxative effects, which can assist in the prevention of constipation. These teas can be consumed daily without significant long-term health risks. If you wish to enhance their laxative properties, adding honey or molasses is an option.

How Much Tea You Should Consume

Most teas marketed for their laxative effects come with specific instructions, often recommending the consumption of one cup just before bedtime. It is crucial to read the label and adhere to the provided directions carefully. While most laxative teas recommend only one cup per day, if your constipation persists for more than a few days, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional for stronger laxative options. Persistent constipation lasting a week or more should prompt a visit to your doctor for a thorough evaluation and guidance on treatment.
