SatSure, a Bengaluru-based deep-tech start-up working at the intersection of space tech, AI, and software as a service (SaaS) to drive decision intelligence, has acquired CropTrails, a web and android application designed to bridge gaps in farm management processes.

CropTrails is currently used by contract farming companies, FPOs, and microfinance institutions throughout India, Southeast Asia, and Africa. SatSure did not reveal any details about the acquisition.

CropTrails, developed and launched in 2018 by Indore-based start-up OEPP Innovations Private Limited, is used by field officers and supervisors to record and digitize information about farmers, farms, and crops.

Users can use the application to monitor and control the crop cycle, track input usage such as fertilizers, access weather forecasts, and track farm visits by supervisors, among other things. CropTrails also functions as a field force productivity monitoring tool, with role-based user management built-in.

SatSure will transform CropTrails into a no-code platform for agribusiness IT teams to rapidly prototype and build their in-house tool that can be easily integrated with SatSure Sparta's datasets, according to the company.

"Countries like Nigeria and the Philippines require farm digitization tools like CropTrails." It serves as the foundation for the first digital layers upon which other services can be rendered. As a result of this acquisition, “SatSure will be able to expand further and strengthen its international market reach into its target geographies of Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. As part of this agreement, SatSure will also use the collected data and feed it into its proprietary algorithms to increase its learning rate," said Prateep Basu, Founder and CEO of SatSure.

"We have had a long-standing and successful partnership with SatSure, and with this move, we are confident that CropTrails will evolve into a globally competitive product," said Priyan Shah, CEO of OEPP Innovations. “CropTrails was built on two pillars: digitization and traceability, and SatSure's expertise in generating predictive insights using satellite imagery will only add value to it."
