Syngenta Seeds, a prominent global agriculture technology company, has recently announced a collaboration with AI company InstaDeep to enhance the development of innovative crop traits for farmers. This partnership aims to integrate Syngenta's proprietary research and development capabilities with InstaDeep's advanced Large Language Model (LLM) platform to accelerate the creation of solutions for agricultural challenges.

InstaDeep has created a cutting-edge language model, AgroNT1, which has been trained on trillions of nucleotides from agriculturally significant crop species. AgroNT1 is designed to decode the complex language of genetic code, learning from nature to predict gene regulation with high accuracy. This groundbreaking AI technology holds the potential to revolutionize trait control and crop performance, offering new levels of precision and efficiency.

Gusui Wu, Global Head of Syngenta Seeds Research, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing the potential of advanced AI to accelerate the advancement of Syngenta's proprietary trait pipeline. He noted that this partnership enables the delivery of innovative and effective solutions to agricultural challenges. Wu highlighted the promising opportunities presented by LLMs in understanding DNA language, which could lead to quicker and more insightful trait development, ultimately helping farmers enhance and protect their yields.

Karim Beguir, CEO and Co-Founder of InstaDeep, echoed this sentiment, describing the collaboration as a significant milestone for both companies. He emphasized the transformative potential of their Genomics AI team's work in agricultural science and expressed excitement about AI's capability to discover and deliver new traits that are essential for creating a more sustainable, resilient, and productive food system.

The initial phase of this collaboration will focus on using AI-mediated trait design to improve corn and soybean crops.

By combining Syngenta's expertise in agricultural technology with InstaDeep's AI innovations, the partnership aims to pave the way for a new era of crop trait development, ultimately benefiting farmers and contributing to a more sustainable agricultural future.
