About ICAR-CPCRI:

The Indian Central Coconut Committee took control of the Kasaragod, Kerala-based Coconut Research Station in 1948 after it had been founded by the then-Government of Madras in 1916. As one of the agricultural research institutions of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS) under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI) was founded in 1970. (ICAR). At the time of its founding, the Institute was given the authority to conduct research on spices, cocoa, cashew, coconut and arecanut. Later, CPCRI was unlinked from the research on cashew, oil palm, and spices to create distinct institutions. The institute's current mission is to carry out research on cocoa, coconut and arecanut.
