After Yellow Alert, IMD Warns of Heavy Rainfall In Some Regions, Heatwaves In Others

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Friday that rain and thunderstorms, together with lightning and gusty winds, are highly likely to occur over East India on April 23. During the 23rd-26th of April, similar conditions will prevail throughout Northeast India.

Rainfall Forecast

For Nothern Regions of India

Heavy rain is expected in Assam-Meghalaya, and in Arunachal Pradesh on April 23 and 24.

IMD forecasts that scattered rains with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) will prevail across Chhattisgarh and Odisha for the next 4 days.

A new strong Western Disturbance is expected to strike the Western Himalayan Region during the night of April 24. Light isolated to scattered rainfall, followed by isolated thunderstorms and lightning, is quite possible across Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on April 25 and 26.

For Southern Regions of India

During the next 5 days, scattered rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is extremely probable over Kerala-Mahe, Tamil Nadu-Puducherry-Karaikal, Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.

Heatwave Forecast

The IMD predicts that heatwave conditions would prevail in scattered areas over Gujarat during the next five days.

Southwest Uttar Pradesh may also be affected by hot temperatures from April 23 to April 26.

IMD predicts heatwave conditions in Southeast Uttar Pradesh (24-26 April), Madhya Pradesh (25 and 26 April), Rajasthan (26 April), and Vidarbha (26 April).
