Amrit Udyan, formerly known as the Mughal Gardens, has once again opened its gates to the public, unveiling a breathtaking display of vibrant flowers and lush landscapes. Spanning 15 acres within the grounds of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, this botanical marvel designed by renowned architect Edwin Lutyens showcases a harmonious fusion of Mughal and English landscaping styles. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful colors and smells from February 2 to March 31, 2024, but the garden is closed on Mondays for maintenance. Entry is free, but slots must be booked online via the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s website.

Amrit Udyan's Floral and Natural Wonders

Amrit Udyan boasts over a thousand varieties of roses and tulips, alongside a butterfly garden and a serene circular pool. The geometrically patterned garden, adorned with water channels and fountains, creates a tranquil ambiance for visitors to immerse themselves in nature's splendor.

Major Attractions of Udyan Utsav 2024

President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated Udyan Utsav 2024 last week, featuring a captivating theme garden showcasing tulips for the first time. Special rose varieties like 'Double Delight,' 'Sentimental,' and 'Krishna' adorn the landscape. Notable attractions include a 225-year-old Sheesham tree and a signature 'Amrit Udyan' logo, doubling as a selfie point.

Among the myriad attractions, rare and exotic flowers steal the spotlight. Witness the enchanting beauty of the Moulsiri tree, Raat ki Rani, tulips, daffodils, Asiatic and Oriental lilies, each exuding its unique charm and fragrance.

Udyan Utsav 2024 caters to all age groups, with Bal Vatika offering a plethora of activities for children, including a treehouse, nature's classroom, butterfly garden, and musical fountain. A floral clock adds a touch of whimsy, telling time through flowers and plants.

Amrit Udyan is currently hosting an event to experience authentic North East India like never before. At the heart of this occasion is a focus on showcasing and commemorating the handicrafts and creations of over 320 grassroots artisans hailing from the eight North Eastern states.

Important Dates of Visiting Amrit Udyan

Amrit Udyan welcomes public visits from February 2nd to March 31st, 2024. This year, the garden has designated specific dates for various visitor groups. Here are the important dates to note:

  • Visitors with functional needs: February 22nd

  • Defence, police, and paramilitary forces: February 23rd

  • Women visitors and tribal women self-help groups: March 1st

  • Children from orphanages: March 5th, 2024

To book tickets online, visit the government website and follow the provided steps. Alternatively, physical tickets can be obtained from Self-Service Kiosks located outside Gate No. 35.
