CSIR-CMERI organized a one-day Industry Conclave-2021 on 24th February, 2021. Prof. Harish Hirani, Director, CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur, inaugurated the Industry Conclave along with the Chief Guest, Prof. M.S. Unnikrishnan, IIT Bombay & Chairman, Research Council, CSIR-CMERI, and the Guests-of-Honor, Dr. G.N. Dayananda, Head, TMD-Industry Interface, CSIR, Shri Pradip Kumar Sikder, Chief Engineer & Project Head, DVC, Andal, Shri Sanjiban Roy, Director, Thriveni Earth Movers Ltd., Chennai among others.
The main objective of the Industrial Meet was to provide a platform to the Industries to express their concern and requirement of indigenous, economic, effective, profit giving and sustainable technologies.
Prof.(Dr.) Harish Hirani, Director CSIR-CMERI stated that “This conclave will not only provide opportunity to CSIR-CMERI to exhibit but also offer its innovative technology solution and understand in a better way the requirement of the Industry for customization of existing technologies.
Prof. Hirani said that the Institute is serving the Nation through technological Intervention since its Inception and is relevant today in achieving the Hon’ble PM’s dream of “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” or “Self Reliant India” which could only be achieved by involving Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) which generates job opportunities and with this arises the need of sustainable development of technologies and skilling manpower.
Prof. Hirani, further added that “CMERI has transferred 70 (seventy) different technologies in last five years . Decentralization of Waste is also one of its great achievement. CSIR-CMERI is not only focusing on current problems but also anticipating future issues.
Prof. M. S. Unnikrishnan, Chairman, Research Council, CSIR-CMERI attended the meeting virtually as a Chief Guest. Prof. Unnikrishnan welcomed all to the meet and overwhelmed the audience .He appreciated the steps taken by CSIR-CMERI at the time of CoVID 19. He also motivated the Industries to join hands with CSIR and demand technology in view of the fact that it is not CMERI but the Industries that require CSIR for its growth and development.
Dr. G.N. Dayananda said that “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” is the current daunting challenge. He stressed that the primary motive should be to build trust and connection. He also appreciated the wide portfolio of Products and the great initiative taken by CMERI in the pandemic which is commendable.
Mr. Pradip Kumar Sikder, Chief Enggineer and Proj. Head, DVC, Andal, appreciated the technology developed by CMERI through which the power generated have drastically increased in recent years.
Mr. Sanjiban Ray stressed on Mining in India, safety and welfare of the workers and ask CMERI to assist in designing various machine so that they do not have to import from other countries. Industry need CMERI for indigenous, economic , artificial intelligence, Robot Mechanism.
The CSIR-CMERI Technology Brochure, which charts out the Technology Advancements of the Institute, was released on the occasion. This was followed by the inauguration of the Technology Exhibition, a platform to present the CSIR-CMERI technologies to the industries. CSIR-CMERI developed technologies were demonstrated. Researchers, Scientists, Industry representative interacted and discussed for futuristic collaboration.
