Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences and Health and Family Welfare has launched ‘Aahaar Kranti’, a mission that will spread awareness about nutrition & accessible to all locally available nutritious food, vegetables and fruits in the country.
‘Global Indian Scientists & Technocrats’ Forum (GIST), Vijnana Bharati (Vibha), Vigyan Prasar & Pravasi Bharatiya Academic and Scientific Sampark (PRABHASS) together has launched Aahaar Kranti mission with the objective of ‘Uttam Aahaar- Uttam Vichaar’ (Good Diet-Good Cognition).
The Aahaar Kranti mission is designed to deal with the peculiar problem being faced by India & world-hunger & diseases in abundance. According to estimates, country produces as much as 2 times the amount of calories it consumes. Still many people especially children in the country are malnourished. The main cause of this is a lack of nutritional awareness.
Dr Harsh Vardhan said, “Today when the nation is reeling under the onslaught of COVID -19 pandemic, a balanced diet serves as a special tool to reduce the impact of the virus. At this time, the need to create awareness about the importance of a balanced diet has become more vital than ever before”.
The minister appreciated that Indian scientists abroad are in the forefront of the campaign. He added, “It is a noble effort to take the message of balanced diet to every Indian. The Logo you have created for the programme is commendable and a slogan such as "Good Diet – Good Thought brings all the country men together”.
The objective of Aahaar Kranti mission is to spread the message of good diet to every Indian. It is vital that every section of the society is involved to ensure that the message reaches out to all corner of the country.
