This initiative is part of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) and is targeted at entrepreneurs in the General category who wish to establish food processing units outside Mega Food Parks and Agro Processing Clusters.

The PMKSY, a Central Sector Scheme, has played a pivotal role in advancing India’s food processing sector. Its objectives include reducing agricultural produce wastage, enhancing farmer incomes, and boosting the export potential of processed foods. The scheme also emphasizes private and public investments in post-harvest activities such as aggregation, modern storage, and efficient supply chains.

Online applications for the scheme must be submitted through the official portal https://sampada-mofpi.gov.in. Physical submissions or applications through other means will not be accepted. The deadline for submission is 5:00 PM on 28th March 2025. Applicants are required to submit a non-refundable demand draft as per the scheme guidelines, and the original draft must reach the Ministry within one week of the online submission deadline.

The scheme encompasses various sub-schemes, including Mega Food Parks, Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure, and Agro Processing Clusters, all aimed at establishing modern preservation and processing facilities.

As of December 2024, 1,646 projects under PMKSY have been sanctioned with a total investment of Rs 31,830.23 crore, including Rs 22,722.55 crore from private stakeholders. These efforts have led to the creation of a processing and preservation capacity of 428.04 lakh metric tonnes annually, generated 13.42 lakh jobs, and benefited over 51 lakh farmers.

An online pre-bid meeting for interested applicants will be held on 6th February 2025 at 11:00 AM in Panchsheel Bhawan, New Delhi. Further information on the scheme and guidelines can be accessed on the Ministry’s website www.mofpi.gov.in.
