India and Thailand Establish Academic Collaboration in Traditional Medicine

The signing of this MoU marks a significant step forward in the collaboration in the field of traditional medicine.

National Institute of Ayurveda in Jaipur, under Ministry of Ayush of the Government of India, and the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, operating under the Ministry of Public Health of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand, have established a significant partnership. Today, in the 10th India-Thailand Joint Commission Meeting at Hyderabad House, New Delhi, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked, marking the establishment of an Academic Collaboration in Ayurveda and Thai Traditional Medicine.

B.K. Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, Director General, Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Thailand signed the MoU in the presence of other dignitaries during the event.

Key Points of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

  • Objective and Scope

The primary aim of this MoU is to promote, facilitate, and advance academic collaboration in the domains of Ayurveda and Thai Traditional Medicine. The collaboration is built upon the principles of equality and mutual benefit for both parties involved.

  • Exchange Programs and Research Initiatives

Under the terms of the MoU, both parties will facilitate the exchange of experts for research and training programs. Academic and technical activities will be conducted, fostering the exchange of valuable information, technologies, and best practices in Traditional Medicine.

  • Promotion of Cooperation

Efforts will be made to encourage and promote cooperation in various academic and technical activities, including research, training programs, and the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Scholarships will also be provided to support education in the field.

  • Collaborative Activities

The implementation of this MoU will see mutual support and collaborative efforts between the two parties. This will include facilitating training courses, conducting collaborative research studies on common diseases, and organizing visits and exchanges of key stakeholders such as policy makers, academics, experts, researchers, practitioners, and students.

  • Information Sharing and Conferences

Both the National Institute of Ayurveda and the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine will share information on regulatory mechanisms, best practices, guidelines, and courses of study and training. Additionally, conferences and meetings will be organized alternately in India and Thailand to review progress and evaluate the results of collaborative programs.

It reflects the commitment of both nations to share expertise, promote cultural exchange, and advance healthcare practices for the benefit of their citizens and beyond. With mutual cooperation and collaborative activities at the forefront, this partnership holds great promise for the future of Ayurveda and Thai Traditional Medicine.
