"India's Exports of Agricultural & Processed Foods Rise By 16%": DGCI&S Data

Exports of agricultural and processed food products increased by 16% in the current fiscal year's first eight months (April-November) compared to the same period in 2021-22.

According to preliminary data from the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S), overall exports of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) products increased by 16% from $15.07 billion in the previous fiscal year to $17.43 billion in April-November 2022.

 

The initiatives of the APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority), which works under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, have assisted the country in meeting 74% of its total export target for the fiscal year 2022-23 in the first eight months of the current fiscal.

For the fiscal year 2022-23, an export target of $23.56 billion for agricultural and processed food products has been set, with an export of $17.435 billion already achieved in the first eight months of the current fiscal.

According to DGCI&S preliminary data, processed fruits and vegetables increased by 32.60% (April-November 2022), while fresh fruits increased by 4% in comparison to the same months the previous year. In addition, processed food products such as cereals and miscellaneous processed items increased by 28.29% over the first eight months of the previous year.

 

Fresh fruits were exported to the tune of $954 million from April to November 2021, which increased to $991 million in the corresponding months of the current fiscal. Exports of processed F&V increased to $1310 million in the first eight months of the current fiscal year, up from $988 million in the same period last year.

The export of pulses increased by 90.49 percent in the first eight months of the current fiscal year compared to the same period last year, while lentil exports increased from $206 million (April-November 2021-22) to $392 million (April-November 2022-23). Fresh fruits were exported to the tune of $954 million from April to November 2021, which increased to $991 million in the corresponding months of the current fiscal.

Exports of processed F&V increased to $1310 million in the first eight months of the current fiscal year, up from $988 million in the same period last year. Similarly, dairy products saw a 33.77 percent increase in exports, rising to $421 million in April-November 2022 from $315 million in the same months the previous year. Wheat exports increased by 29.29% in the first eight months of the current fiscal year.
