Monsoon Update: Rains Lash Parts of India, Relief Expected in Delhi

The southwest monsoon continues its advance across India, bringing much-needed relief from the prolonged heatwave situation.

After an initial delay, the monsoon has reached Gujarat and is expected to cover more parts of the state in the coming days. Meanwhile, Delhi residents can expect another day of cloudy skies with light rain and gusty winds. The IMD predicts further showers throughout the week with thunderstorms on June 25, 27, and 28.

Monsoon Forecast for Other States: The IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall across several states on Monday, with occasional intense spells and thunderstorms.  States like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and West Bengal can expect some rain, while West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are likely to experience more intense downpours.

Heatwave to Abate in Parts of North India: The monsoon's arrival is expected to bring relief from the ongoing heatwave. While isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and West Uttar Pradesh might experience heatwave conditions till June 25, they are expected to subside thereafter.

Mumbai Gears Up for Another Wet Week: Mumbai and its surrounding districts can expect a continuation of the wet weather. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Thane, Mumbai, and Palghar, warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds till Friday.

Heavy Rainfall Warning for Goa: The IMD issued a red alert for Goa on June 23, indicating extremely heavy rainfall and strong winds. An orange alert has also been issued for June 22, 24, and 25, warning of heavy rainfall in isolated places. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the sea during this period.
