On Sunday, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao urged unity among farmers, claiming that during the previous 75 years, during which time mainly two parties held power, the plight of farmers had not gone away.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader said the Maharashtra government only agreed to provide Rs 6,000 in help to farmers after he addressed a crowd in Nanded last month. He was speaking at a rally in Loha tehsil of Maharashtra's Nanded. After turning his party into a nationwide organisation, Telangana Chief Minister and BRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao rallied supporters in Kandhar Loha on Sunday.
“This solution is similar to splashing water on a fire. We don't want it. We want farmers to receive Rs 10,000 per acre so they can use it to finance agricultural endeavours,” added Rao. Rao declared that BRS would run in the Maharashtra panchayat elections.
Additionally, he asserted that the Telangana administration, led by him, had improved farmers' living conditions over time. He questioned why economically thriving Maharashtra couldn't change if Telangana could. Blowing the electoral horn in Maharashtra, KCR also issued a challenge to the Eknath Shinde-led administration and deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to extend welfare programmes to farmers and Dalits as the BRS government was doing in Telangana.
He questioned, "Did anyone get the PM Fasal Bima Yojana? If BRS is elected, the Telangana model, which includes schemes for farmers and Dalits, would be applied to Maharashtra. The Maharashtra State Election Commission has now registered BRS.”
He urged farmers, workers, and Dalits to band together and support BRS in the upcoming panchayat elections, which attracted a sizable crowd. "The BRS pledge promises to support "kisanvad" (farmers’ welfare), reject "jativad" (casteism), and maintain "dharmvad" (fundamentalism). At my first rally in Nanded, I came up with the catchphrase "ab ki baar kisan sarkar," which prompted the Maharashtra government to act and provide farmers with aid of Rs 6,000 per acre,” he stated.
