Weather Alert: IMD Issues Orange, Yellow Alerts for Various Districts in Kerala; Delhi-NCR to Witness Light Rainfall Today

Temperature in Delhi is likely to drop in the next few days as the monsoon winds will reach the National Capital and NCR regions by July 10, according to IMD.

Delhi Weather: 

Temperature in Delhi is likely to drop in the next few days as the monsoon winds will reach the National Capital and NCR regions by July 10, according to IMD. 

The minimum temperature on Wednesday (7 July 2021) morning was recorded at 29.5 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees above normal. 

The National Capital is likely to witness rains and thunderstorms between Thursday and Sunday. The maximum temperature is predicted to go down significantly and settle at 34 degrees Celsius by Sunday. 

Orange and Yellow Alert issued in Kerala 

The Weather Department has said that South-West Monsoon will escalate by Thursday. Therefore, Kerala is expected to receive heavy rain in the next few days. Heavy to very Heavy rainfall will lash Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Saturday, alerted IMD. An orange alert has been issued in these districts on Saturday. 

A yellow alert is issued in Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode for Thursday.

For Friday, yellow alert has been issued for Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.  Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad districts will be placed under yellow alert on Saturday.

Weather Systems across India 

Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are predicted over Konkan coast and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. 

Isolated rainfall is also likely over east Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Goa, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. 

Fairly widespread rain is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep. 

Scattered rain along with thunderstorms are likely over the isolated regions of Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. Scattered rain or snow and thunderstorms are predicted over Sikkim. 

Isolated rain and thunderstorms are likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and west Uttar Pradesh. 

The highest temperatures will be above 40°C in some regions of Punjab, Haryana, north Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Madhya Pradesh.
