  • International Year of Millets 2023 Kick Starts Today

    The International Year of Millets (IYM) 2023 initiative, supported by the Indian government and led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was approved by the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in the previous year. The step has been crucial in allowing the Government of India to lead the way in IYM celebrations. PM Modi discussed his goal of making IYM 2023 a "People's Movement" and establishing India as a "Global Hub for Millets" with the concerned authorities and officials on Sunday.

    Beekeepers are processing raw honey in government facilities for free as part of the current administration's apiculture development schemes in the Union Territory. Small-time keepers are also offered the services of honey testing and logo stamping for better market returns. These processing units provide a one-stop solution for reducing the moisture in honey, filtering it, and packaging it.

     

  • Project Jagruti Abhiyaan Assisted in Raising Cotton Farmers’ Income

    ‘Project Jagruti Abhiyaan’ launched by Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) across India to train and support local cotton farmers while empowering smallholder farming communities around the world. Louis Dreyfus Company recently organised an effective meeting and field visit to train progressive cotton farmers in the village Dhamera, Hanumakonda district of Hyderabad, Telangana.

     

  • National Foods Security Act: Govt to Provide Free Foodgrains to 81.35 cr People for 1 year

    The ambitious new integrated food security scheme launched by the Modi government will begin on January 1, 2023. Under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the central government will provide free foodgrains to approximately 81.35 crore beneficiaries for one year beginning January 1, 2023. Under the National Food Security Act, up to 75% of the rural population and 50% of the urban population are legally entitled to subsidized foodgrains through the Targeted Public Distribution System. As a result, the Act covers roughly two-thirds of the population in terms of receiving heavily subsidized foodgrains.

     

  • Three-Day Agri Progress Expo to be Held in Ludhiana from 20-22 January, 2023

    The Ludhiana Exhibition Centre in Punjab's Sahnewal city will host an international exhibition on agricultural machinery and dairy technology from January 20-22, 2023. With assistance from the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), the Bureau of Indian Standards, the central Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and the Indian Council for Agricultural Research, the third annual expo is organized by Udan Media and Communication Pvt Ltd.
