  • APEDA Plans to Increase Millets Export to Rs 2,000 cr by FY26

    With millets exports increasing by 14%, the government's agri export promotion body, APEDA, has decided to focus on shipments of its organic variety in order to meet the target of at least Rs 2,000 crore export by FY26. Millets exports were estimated to be worth Rs.460 crore in 2021-22."We intend to exceed Rs 2,000 crore by 2025-26 by supplying value-added and processed organic millet products to at least 100 countries," said M Angamuthu, Chairman of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export De velopment Authority (APEDA).

  • Agriculture Ministry to Set Up Accelerator Programme of Rs 500 Cr for Promoting Agri Start-ups

    Mr Kailash Choudhary, Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt of India on November 2 said that soon an accelerator program of Rs 500 crore will be started to take forward the successful initiatives of Agri Start-ups in which DARE, DPIIT, Agri Incubators, agriculture universities, research institutes, investors and other stakeholders will be included. Speaking at the 5th FICCI Agri Start-up Summit & Awards in 2022, Mr. Choudhary said that the Ministry will create a new section of Agriculture Start-up, which will be headed by a Joint Secretary. He continued, "A cell will also be created to function as a one window agency to enable all the links necessary for Agri Start-ups.

  • Rabi Season 2022–23: Centre Approved Spending Rs 51,875 Cr on P&K fertilizer

    According to a formal announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led by CCEA approved the nutrient-based subsidy (NBS) prices for P&K fertilizers for the rabi season of 2022–2023. This would make it possible for farmers to easily get all P&K fertilizers during Rabi 2022–2023 at discounted or reasonable fertilizer costs, supporting the agricultural sector. To guarantee that these fertilizers are consistently available to farmers at reasonable prices, the CCEA has established nutrient-based subsidy rates for phosphatic and potassic fertilizers, which also includes assistance for indigenous fertilizer through freight subsidy.
